Duke Freshman Cooper Flagg Named Consensus First Team All-American

DURHAM, N.C. — Duke University men’s basketball freshman Cooper Flagg has been named a consensus First Team All-American, earning the accolade from several prestigious organizations, including the Sporting News, Associated Press, National Association of Basketball Coaches, and U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
Flagg is currently leading the Duke Blue Devils with an average of 18.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game. He is the only player in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) to rank among the top 10 in all five major statistical categories.
This recognition marks a significant milestone for Flagg, who is the third-highest rated player in history, according to the KenPom Player of the Year Standings since 2011. With a rating of 2.582, Flagg trails only players from 2015 and 2024.
As a graduate of Newport, Flagg’s selection as a consensus First Team All-American makes him the first Blue Devil to achieve this honor since RJ Barrett and Zion Williamson in 2019. He is also the 22nd player in Duke history to be named a consensus First Team All-American, which leads all college basketball programs since 1949.
Flagg’s talent has not gone unnoticed across multiple All-America selections, where he received unanimous first-team honors from both the Associated Press and Sporting News.
The prestige of this award underscores Flagg’s exceptional performance throughout the season, making it an impressive debut for the freshman at the collegiate level.
In response to his remarkable season, Flagg stated, “I am honored to be recognized alongside such talented players. Each game, I strive to contribute to my team’s success and this recognition highlights our collective effort.”
Looking ahead, Duke’s men’s basketball team continues to build on their strong momentum. They remain highly ranked in national polls and are set to compete in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
