Braydon Hawthorne Duke Visit

Durham, NC – Braydon Hawthorne visited Duke University this weekend, amidst fierce competition from other Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) schools. Virginia Tech and Pitt are both actively pursuing the talented recruit, using familiar strategies to bolster their chances.

Virginia Tech’s head coach Mike Young recently re-hired assistant coach Chester Frazier, while Pitt’s Jeff Capel brought in Jay Kuntz, who previously served as the Director of Recruiting at West Virginia. Both coaches have a shared history with Hawthorne, having worked alongside Darian DeVries, who recruited him before his move to Indiana.

Hawthorne, a promising talent, sought and received his release after DeVries left for Indiana. His ties with Frazier and Kuntz could impact his decision as he weighs his options. ‘I think having familiar faces in the mix is comforting for me,’ Hawthorne said during his visit.

Kentucky is also in the running for Hawthorne, adding to the competition faced by Duke and its ACC rivals. As he explores his options, the recruitment for Hawthorne is heating up as all four schools vying for his commitment can fill a significant role for his future.

As the weekend progresses, fans and analysts alike will watch closely to see where Hawthorne might land.
