Dustin Johnson Misses Cut, Faces Winless Season for First Time Since 2014
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — Dustin Johnson, a prominent figure in professional golf, faced a disappointing setback on Thursday. The 41-year-old missed the cut at the PIF Saudi International after carding a round of 74, marking the end of his 2025 season. This outcome ensures that Johnson will finish the year without a victory for the first time since 2014.
Johnson has built an impressive career over his 18 years as a professional golfer, boasting 31 wins that include 22 titles on the PGA Tour and notable championships like the Masters and the U.S. Open. However, 2025 proved challenging for the former star.
His best finish this year was a third-place result at the LIV season finale in Indianapolis. Despite this small success, he faced difficulties at various tournaments, finishing last in both Hong Kong and the U.K.
Reflecting on his performance after the round in Riyadh, Johnson described the season as “up-and-down.” He indicated that part of his struggles could be traced to his split with TaylorMade, a brand he had used since turning pro in 2007. “I’ve really struggled with the driver – which is generally the best part of my game,” Johnson explained.
He elaborated on his challenges, stating, “The weeks I drive it well, I play well and have a chance to win. But, as a whole, I’ve just struggled with the driver.” This inconsistency has put pressure on other aspects of his performance as he seeks a driver that complements his overall game.
Despite the challenges faced this season, Johnson remains optimistic about the future. “I feel like the game’s been in good form,” he said, expressing hope as he looks ahead to 2026.
