Dustin Rhodes Plans Retirement Run with Two-Year Timeline

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Wrestling veteran Dustin Rhodes has shared insights about his future in-ring retirement during a recent interview. Rhodes disclosed that he has a plan for his farewell and anticipates his exit to happen within the next two years.
In his interview, Rhodes reflected on his career, stating, “Whenever the end is, it is kind of near but not too close and I’m just trying to come to grips with that.” He expressed his deep love for wrestling, insisting that as long as he has the passion, he will continue to compete.
Rhodes believes his farewell might resemble the send-off received by fellow wrestler Sting at AEW Revolution 2024, sharing, “I think Tony’s going to give me the opportunity to go out like Sting did.” He mentioned that he envisions wrestling for about two more years, emphasizing that he has a specific plan for his final matches.
While he keeps the details of his retirement plan under wraps, Rhodes commented, “I’d rather not say them right now, I want to keep that close to my chest, but I do have a plan.” He reassured fans that although he has previously suggested a shorter timeline, he now feels confident about stretching his career further.
Despite the discussions of retirement, Rhodes is actively competing and currently holds the ROH Tag Team Championship alongside Sammy Guevara, as well as the ROH Six-Man Tag-Team Championship with Marshall and Ross Von Erich. He noted the positivity and support he feels from AEW, stating, “I feel the most love, the most passion from this company, and I feel it every single day.”
