Philadelphia Eagles Vs Washington Commanders Nfl Playoff Game

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Philadelphia Eagles secured their spot in the divisional round of the 2025 NFL playoffs with a 22-10 victory over the Washington Commanders on Sunday. However, their next opponent remains uncertain as they await the outcome of Monday night’s game between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings.

The Eagles were initially poised to face the NFC’s No. 3 seed, but a dramatic 37-yard field goal by Commanders kicker Joey Slye as time expired dashed those plans. Instead, Philadelphia will host the winner of the Rams-Vikings matchup at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.

Philadelphia’s coaching staff has likely analyzed both potential opponents. The Rams, led by quarterback Matthew Stafford, boast a potent offense featuring star receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, alongside running back Kyren Williams. However, their defense has struggled against strong rushing attacks, which could play into the hands of the Eagles’ second-ranked ground game, led by Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts.

“If we can render the Rams one-dimensional by taking away their explosive passing plays, we have a good chance to win,” said an Eagles defensive coordinator, speaking on condition of anonymity.

On the other hand, the Vikings present a tougher challenge. Quarterback Sam Darnold, despite a shaky performance in the regular-season finale, has been effective in Kevin O'Connell‘s system. Minnesota’s defense, under coordinator Brian Flores, ranks sixth in pressure percentage (25.3%) and boasts one of the league’s best run defenses, allowing just 93.4 yards per game.

“The Vikings’ ability to get pressure could put Hurts in danger of making mistakes,” noted an NFL analyst. “But Hurts has shown he can handle the blitz, which might give the Eagles an edge.”

Philadelphia already has a 37-20 win over the Rams this season, with Barkley rushing for a career-high 255 yards and two touchdowns. This history could make Los Angeles the preferred opponent for the Eagles as they aim for a return to the NFC championship game.

With the AFC and NFC brackets now set, the Eagles’ divisional round opponent is the final piece of the playoff puzzle. Fans will be watching closely as the Rams and Vikings battle it out Monday night to determine who advances to face Philadelphia.
