PHILADELPHIA — Thousands of fans gathered Friday morning to celebrate the Philadelphia Eagles’ breathtaking Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. The parade kicked off at 11 a.m. at Lincoln Financial Field, leading eager supporters along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the iconic steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
In a live interview on the 94WIP Morning Show, Eagles’ voice Merrill Reese expressed that the joy of the fans was central to the team’s success. “I truly believe this, my feeling is so wrapped up in how the fans feel,” Reese said. “The fans who deserve this so greatly, what they’ve gone through over the years…That’s what means the most to me.”
The fête culminated with victory speeches from players and team owner Jeffrey Lurie at the Art Museum around 2 p.m. Reese had the honor of introducing the Eagles’ stars during the ceremony.
The Eagles’ victory parade attracted fans from the break of dawn, as supporters flocked to secure prime viewing spots. Some attendees, like Nadeem from Northeast Philly, arrived as early as 4 a.m. “Front-row seats and right where it starts too, so for me it’s perfect,” he shared. “Better to be here early and have our spot.”
Players aboard the parade bus, including MVP quarterback Jalen Hurts, thrilled the crowd. Hurts donned a sweatshirt reading “Love, Hurts,” while Lurie and Hurts took turns hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy amidst a shower of confetti. Sensing the excitement, some fans even climbed pillars and bus shelters to get a closer look.
However, the celebrations weren’t without incident. Reports surfaced that Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman was struck in the forehead by a flying beer can, though details on his condition remain unclear.
As the procession made its way down the Avenue of the Arts, fans erupted with cheers. Buses carrying Eagles players, coaches, and staff left the Linc ahead of schedule, starting a wave of excitement throughout the crowd. Many players, including Saquon Barkley, exited the floats to engage with fans, high-fiving and sharing in the jubilant atmosphere.
Lisa Sanders expressed her eagerness for the parade, saying, “I’m looking forward to seeing them pull up so I can scream and let them know how much we love them. We really needed this.”
Mark, another dedicated fan, reflected on the significance of the event. “I suffered for 40 years without getting one, so now I’m back out here for our second celebration in the last seven years,” he said. “Now I have back-to-back within a decade. You got to come out and support the team.”
In a moment filled with nostalgia, fans recalled the iconic 2018 parade, where Jason Kelce captured hearts with his memorable speech and unforgettable Mummers costume. As discussions raised about who would shine at future celebrations, the spirit of camaraderie continued to thrive among Eagles supporters.
