Lane Johnson Philadelphia Eagles Contract Extension

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Philadelphia Eagles have secured their All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson with a one-year contract extension, keeping him with the team through the 2027 NFL season. The announcement came Monday as Johnson enters his 13th year in the league.

The new agreement adds $8 million to Johnson’s contract over the next two years, along with an additional $30 million in guarantees, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This brings Johnson’s earnings to $48 million over the next two seasons, with $40 million guaranteed.

“I’m definitely not retiring after this game, win or lose,” Johnson said before Super Bowl LIX, emphasizing his commitment to continue playing. “Physically, man, I feel a lot better than I have in the past couple of years.”

Drafted fourth overall by the Eagles in 2013, Johnson has started 158 games, showcasing his durability and skill across the offensive line. He holds multiple accolades, including six Pro Bowl selections and two Super Bowl championships. In the 2024 season, he ranked first among NFL right tackles in crucial pass-blocking metrics, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Eagles’ offense was dynamic in the 2024 season, particularly highlighted by a strong running game led by Saquon Barkley, who surpassed 2,000 rushing yards, and a potent passing attack that collectively set an NFL record with 145 points scored in the postseason. Johnson played a pivotal role in this success, allowing zero sacks and only one QB hit in 451 pass-blocking snaps last season.

As Johnson prepares for his sixth Pro Bowl and ongoing contributions to the team, he remains a key figure alongside other locked-in talent, including quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown, all under contract through at least 2027.

Should Johnson fulfill his contract, he could become only the second Eagle to play 15 seasons with the franchise, a testament to his enduring impact and potential Hall of Fame candidacy.
