Philadelphia Eagles Defensive Moves 2025 Nfl Offseason

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — As the Philadelphia Eagles prepare for the 2025 National Football League season, the team faces significant changes likely to reshape their roster. With multiple players headed for free agency, management must make tough decisions to maintain a competitive edge.

One notable name potentially leaving the Eagles is cornerback James Bradberry. According to ESPN’s Tim McManus, Bradberry, 31, has one year remaining on his three-year, $38 million contract. However, his performance has declined, and the drafting of rookies Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean may signal an impending departure. McManus noted, “It would be no surprise if he and the Eagles parted ways. Bradberry lost his starting role after a disappointing 2024 season and has since been transitioning to safety due to team needs.

After suffering a leg injury last August, Bradberry landed on injured reserve and did not play in the 2024 season. As a former All-Pro, he aims to rejuvenate his career, possibly with a new team in 2025. The rumors of his potential exit from Philadelphia were prevalent throughout the previous offseason.

In addition to Bradberry, the Eagles need to address gaps in their defense, particularly in the pass rush. Defensive players Josh Sweat, Zack Baun, and Milton Williams are all set to enter free agency, leaving the Eagles with critical decisions this offseason.

ESPN’s Aaron Schatz identified nine-time Pro Bowler Khalil Mack as a strategic fit for Philadelphia. If Sweat departs and Brandon Graham opts for retirement, Mack’s experience could prove invaluable. Schatz stated, “This seems like the perfect place for a well-regarded veteran to chase a championship ring.” Though Mack’s 2024 season saw a drop in stats — from 17.0 sacks in 2023 to just 6.0 — his ability to pressure quarterbacks remains a significant asset.

Despite the decline, he still garnered recognition, earning a Pro Bowl selection for the last three seasons. With 53 pressures in 2023 compared to 41 in 2024, the Eagles could use Mack strategically, perhaps in a rotational role. Such a move could bolster the team’s defense as they navigate a challenging offseason. Making these pivotal roster decisions will be crucial for the Eagles as they aim for a successful 2025 season.
