Eagles Hire Chargers OC Kellen Moore to Rebuild Offense
The Philadelphia Eagles have made a significant move to revamp their offense by hiring Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. The news was reported by NFL Network Insiders, Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. Moore, who spent the 2023 season with the Chargers, will now bring his offensive expertise to the Eagles.
Prior to his time with the Chargers, Moore was associated with the Dallas Cowboys, a prominent rival of the Eagles in the NFC East. He started his coaching career with the Cowboys as a QBs coach in 2018 and swiftly rose through the ranks to become the offensive coordinator in 2019. Moore spent four years with the Cowboys, three of which were spent under head coach Mike McCarthy.
During his tenure as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator, Moore’s unit excelled. The Cowboys led the league in yards twice and also finished first in scoring in 2021. Despite his recent job changes, Moore is considered one of the most respected offensive minds in the NFL.
The Eagles’ offense struggled towards the end of the season, going 1-6 down the stretch and falling short in the wild-card playoffs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Moore’s main task will be to revive the once potent offense, which still managed to finish with the seventh-most points in the league. He will work closely with quarterback Jalen Hurts and contend with the absence of center Jason Kelce, who may retire.
Philadelphia’s head coach, Nick Sirianni, has undergone a complete overhaul of his coordinators for the second year in a row. He recently hired defensive coordinator Vic Fangio within 24 hours of his arrival from the Miami Dolphins. Now, with the addition of Kellen Moore, Sirianni hopes to bring a spark back to the Eagles’ offense and compete at a higher level next season.
