Eagles Open Practice Windows for Graham, Uzomah Ahead of Super Bowl
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Philadelphia Eagles announced Wednesday they have opened practice windows for defensive end Brandon Graham and tight end C.J. Uzomah as they prepare for Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9. Both players are recovering from injuries that landed them on Injured Reserve earlier this season.
Graham, a 15-year veteran, suffered a triceps tear during the Eagles’ 37-20 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12. Initially declared “out for the season,” Graham has been working tirelessly to return for the championship game. “We’ll see. Tomorrow, I’ll go meet up and we’ll see if it’s a possibility. I’ve been working, man, but we will see,” Graham said after the Eagles’ NFC Championship win. He added, “At the end of the day, I’m just happy we got there. Those boys scored 55 today (Graham’s jersey number) – that’s what’s up – so, that might be telling me something.”
Uzomah, who joined the Eagles this season, was placed on IR on New Year’s Day after appearing in seven games, including three starts. His potential return could bolster the Eagles’ offensive options in the Super Bowl.
In addition to the injury updates, the Eagles made roster moves by signing running back Lew Nichols to the practice squad and releasing tight end Nick Muse. Nichols, a former Central Michigan standout, previously spent time with the Eagles during training camp and the preseason. He rushed for 3,061 yards and scored 29 total touchdowns during his college career, earning Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2021.
Muse, who was signed to the practice squad on Jan. 22, did not see any game action with the Eagles. The 2022 seventh-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings has primarily served as a practice squad elevation over his three NFL seasons.
The Eagles are now focused on finalizing their roster and preparing for their Super Bowl matchup, with hopes that Graham and Uzomah can contribute to their championship aspirations.
