Eagles Open to Trading Goedert and Huff After Super Bowl Season

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly open to trade discussions involving tight end Dallas Goedert and pass-rusher Bryce Huff as the team looks to optimize its roster after a successful Super Bowl season.
Sources indicate that the Eagles are willing to consider trades for both players as they navigate salary cap implications and performance issues. Goedert, who joined the Eagles in 2018, is entering the final year of a four-year, $57 million contract. Last season, he recorded 42 receptions for 496 yards and two touchdowns, but only played in ten games due to injuries.
“We are evaluating all options as we head into the offseason,” said general manager Howie Roseman. “We want to ensure we have the best roster possible moving forward.”
Goedert, 30, has long been a key part of Philadelphia’s offense, but his productivity has waned after injuries sidelined him for significant periods. With a history of missing games, the Eagles are contemplating a trade that could yield a mid-round pick.
Huff, who signed a three-year, $51.1 million contract before the 2024 season, also finds himself on the trading block after struggling for playing time and posting only 2.5 sacks last season. Once regarded as a promising edge rusher, he was unable to contribute significantly amidst the Eagles’ deep rotation.
“It’s been a tough year for me, but I’m hoping for a fresh start,” Huff remarked. “I believe I can still play at a high level.”
The Eagles are looking at options that could involve trades with teams needing a veteran tight end or pass-rusher. With Goedert potentially fetching a Day 3 draft pick, franchises such as the Los Angeles Chargers and New York Jets have shown interest.
“Goedert is a talented player who brings a lot to the table, both in blocking and receiving,” said an NFL analyst. “He would fit well with teams looking to bolster their offensive capabilities.”
Huff’s previous success with the Jets, where he recorded 10 sacks, has not gone unnoticed. The Eagles are hoping that other teams still view him as a valuable asset. If traded, the Eagles would need to address the tight end position, as Goedert’s departure would leave a void in their offensive strategy.
As the offseason progresses, the Eagles continue to seek ways to be competitive while managing their finances and player performances.
