Cam Jurgens Philadelphia Eagles Center

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Philadelphia Eagles announced Monday that they have signed center Cam Jurgens to a four-year contract extension, ensuring his presence through the 2029 season. The $68 million deal includes $39.4 million guaranteed, reflecting the team’s ongoing investment in their offensive line.

Jurgens, a second-round draft pick in 2022, played a pivotal role in the Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning season earlier this year. He transitioned to center after the retirement of veteran Jason Kelce, starting 16 games and earning Pro Bowl honors in his first full season at the position. Jurgens is the youngest Eagles center to achieve Pro Bowl recognition since Ken Farragut in 1953.

The contract extension aligns with the Eagles’ strategic effort to bolster their offensive line, which now features Jurgens, left tackle Jordan Mailata (under contract through 2028), left guard Landon Dickerson (2028), and right tackle Lane Johnson (2027) all secured for several seasons.

“If you perform, you are going to be around for a long time,” said a team official, emphasizing the Eagles’ philosophy on rewarding player success.

During his rookie season, Jurgens gained valuable experience as the Eagles made their run to Super Bowl LVII. In his second year, he filled in at right guard for 11 games before he was moved to center, where his performance exceeded expectations. He remarked, “I feel like I have a lot of good guys around me and I just kept learning, getting better every game this year. It’s a huge honor, so many people playing never get it.”

Offensive lineman Landon Dickerson praised Jurgens’ capabilities, stating, “I think he’s done a phenomenal job. Cam is Cam. He’s going to do his own thing. He’s filled the role of playing center for the Philadelphia Eagles extremely well.”

The Eagles’ offense thrived last season, highlighted by star running back Saquon Barkley’s league-record rushing total of 2,504 yards, which included playoffs. The team set an NFL record with 3,866 total rushing yards and achieved a franchise-high passer rating of 103.4.

Jurgens’s journey began at the University of Nebraska, where he initially played tight end. He transitioned to center by adding 45 pounds and eventually earned all-Big Ten honors. The Eagles were delighted to draft him at No. 51 overall, viewing him as a future anchor for their offensive line.

“We nailed that one,” said Run Game Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach Jeff Stoutland, reflecting on the benefits of selecting Jurgens in the draft.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts also commended Jurgens’ performance, noting, “He had one bad snap to start the season off, and all the questioning and all the things that were thrown his way and ended up being a Pro Bowler. He’s done a great job.”
