Dallas Goedert Eagles Tight End Action Shot

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Philadelphia Eagles are hopeful that tight end Dallas Goedert can maintain his health next season, as he proved his value during a postseason run marked by 17 receptions for 215 yards and two touchdowns across four games. Goedert’s performance highlighted his skills in route running and ability to create space, essential traits for a complete tight end.

Goedert’s contributions extended beyond receiving, as he played a crucial role as an in-line blocker. However, missed time due to injury has been a concern throughout his career — he missed six games in the previous season alone. When Goedert was sidelined, the Eagles found a reliable alternative in Grant Calcaterra, who caught 24 passes for 298 yards and one touchdown in his breakout third season.

Calcaterra is expected to further develop in his fourth season, enhancing his blocking skills while gaining more confidence in the passing game. With veterans like C.J. Uzomah and E.J. Jenkins also on the roster, the Eagles possess depth at the tight end position. Uzomah played in seven games last season, primarily fulfilling the role of a blocking tight end, while Jenkins managed minimal opportunities but scored a touchdown on his lone reception.

Nick Muse and Cameron Latu are additional options, as Muse was part of the practice squad in 2024, and Latu joined the team on a free-agent contract this year.

Looking ahead, the Eagles face an important offseason with Goedert, who has struggled with injuries. Goedert’s absence is felt keenly, and his ability to stay healthy will play a significant role in the Eagles’ approach to the tight end position. Head coach Nick Sirianni emphasized Goedert’s importance, noting, “He has an ability to make plays in big moments. I think that just speaks to how calm, cool and confident he is.”

Statistically, since becoming the Eagles’ primary tight end in 2021, Goedert ranks sixth in receiving yards (2,620) and third in average yards per reception (12.4) among NFL tight ends.

The Eagles’ challenges may influence their decisions during free agency as they explore options to augment the tight end position. As they reflect on Guteert’s injury history, the team may prioritize depth and potential investments heading into the next season.
