East Bengal Fc Advances To Kalinga Super Cup Final With Dominant Victory

East Bengal FC secured their spot in the final of the Kalinga Super Cup with a convincing 2-0 victory over Jamshedpur FC in Bhubaneswar. This adds to their earlier achievement of reaching the final of the Durand Cup in the current season. Goals from Hijazi Maher and Javier Siverio proved enough for the Red and Gold Brigade to secure their place in the final.

The semi-final clash saw East Bengal exhibit their strength and tactical prowess, never allowing Jamshedpur to take control of the game. Instead, they capitalized on their chances by finding the back of the net twice, while also keeping a clean sheet — their first of the tournament.

Absent from the Jamshedpur line-up was their star striker, Daniel Chima Chukwu, who was serving a suspension. Although their midfielders created several opportunities, their forward line struggled to convert them into goals, resulting in their defeat.

Celebrating their victory, East Bengal’s coach, Carles Cuadrat, praised his team’s compactness and overall performance. He highlighted their strong defensive display, ability to win second balls, and effectiveness in attack.

The breakthrough for East Bengal came in the 19th minute when Saul Crespo played a delightful square pass to Hijazi Maher, who made no mistake in converting the chance. Despite relentless pressure from Jamshedpur, East Bengal’s defense, led by goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Singh Gill, held firm to preserve their lead.

Early in the second half, East Bengal extended their advantage through a well-executed attacking move. Nishu Kumar‘s overlapping run allowed him to deliver a precise pass to Nandhakumar Sekar, who provided a dangerous cross. Javier Siverio expertly evaded his marker and slotted the ball home to double East Bengal’s lead in the 47th minute.

East Bengal could have further added to their tally as they were awarded a penalty late in the match. However, Cleiton Silva‘s powerful strike ricocheted off the crossbar, denying them another goal.

East Bengal will now await the outcome of the other semi-final clash between Odisha FC and Mumbai City FC to determine their opponents in the Kalinga Super Cup final.
