Eau Claire Fourth Grader Willy Adames Bat

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WQOW) — Noah Olson, a fourth grader from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, experienced an unforgettable moment at a recent San Francisco Giants spring training game in March. The budding baseball fan engaged in a conversation with Giants shortstop Willy Adames, who previously played for Olson’s favorite team, the Milwaukee Brewers.

During their chat, Olson inquired about Adames’ transition to the Giants. Adames took an unexpected turn in the conversation. He proposed that if Olson became a Giants fan, he could take home a bat. “In the moment, I was like, this isn’t happening to me right now,” Olson recounted.

The excitement continued as Olson attended a game where he caught Adames’ attention from the stands. Despite being a loyal Brewers supporter, the young fan expressed his sentiment about seeing Adames in a new uniform. Willy Adames responded playfully, teasing Olson about his loyalty.

To solidify their deal, Olson asked his mother, Sarah Welsh, to purchase a Giants cap from the team store. Shortly thereafter, Olson met Adames outside the dugout, donning the new Giants hat, and was exuberantly presented the bat by the star player. The touching encounter was captured on video by Welsh and subsequently shared on her Facebook page, quickly gaining traction among viewers.

<p“It was a really cool moment,” Welsh said. “Because Noah went up in an earnest way and asked him a question and just had this sweet presence to him, Willy was really taken by that.”

The coveted bat is now proudly displayed above Noah’s bed, complementing his collection of baseball memorabilia. Although Noah remains dedicated to the Brewers, he expressed a newfound interest in following the Giants to support Adames, who departed Milwaukee after four successful seasons last offseason.
