Edmonton Oilers Make Lineup Adjustments Ahead of Game Against Detroit Red Wings
The Edmonton Oilers have made adjustments to their lineup ahead of their upcoming game against the Detroit Red Wings at Rogers Place.
One notable change includes the addition of Sam Gagner on the fourth line, where he is set to play alongside Derek Ryan and Connor Brown. Mattias Janmark is expected to be a healthy scratch, as Gagner looks to provide a spark to the team’s 5-on-5 scoring.
Edmonton’s penalty kill, which had been performing well, recently allowed goals in back-to-back games against Anaheim and Los Angeles, prompting the coaching staff to make changes.
Assistant Coach Mark Stuart emphasized the need for more offense from the bottom six forwards and expressed confidence in Gagner’s ability to contribute in multiple areas, including on the penalty kill.
On defense, the Oilers are reverting to their regular pairings after experimenting with different combinations in the previous two games. Head Coach Kris Knoblauch highlighted the importance of chemistry among the defensemen and the need for balanced ice time.
Corey, Rogers Place, Nugent-Hopkins, McDavid, Hyman, Kane, Draisaitl, Foegele, Holloway, McLeod, Perry, Nurse, Ceci, Ekholm, Bouchard, Kulak, Desharnais, Skinner, and Pickard are among the key players for Edmonton in the upcoming game.
