The Edmonton Oilers have announced the signing of forward Cameron Wright to a one-year, two-way contract. The National Hockey League (NHL) level contract carries an average annual value of $952,000, as confirmed by the team on October 7, 2024. Wright is expected to bring depth to the Oilers’ roster with his recent performance.

Wright, 26, has completed his first full season in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Bakersfield Condors, where he participated in 48 games. Over the course of the season, he accumulated 12 goals and nine assists, resulting in a total of 21 points, alongside 30 penalty minutes.

The forward from Newmarket, Ontario, had previously played with the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies during the 2022-23 season. While with the Grizzlies, Wright led the team’s scoring with 63 points, including 29 goals and 34 assists, over 64 games.

Wright began his hockey career in collegiate leagues, playing for Bowling Green State University from 2017 to 2021, and subsequently for the University of Denver for the 2021-22 season. Throughout his NCAA career, he recorded 135 points from 74 goals and 61 assists in 185 games.

In addition to signing Wright, the Edmonton Oilers have also recalled forward Matt Savoie from the Condors. Both players’ transitions are part of Edmonton’s adjustments as the NHL season progresses.
