STRASBOURG, France — Fourth-seeded Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan advanced to the quarterfinals of the Internationaux de Strasbourg with a commanding 6-1, 6-3 victory over China’s Xinyu Wang on Tuesday. Rybakina displayed impressive form, striking six aces and saving all break points she faced in the 65-minute match.

In the next round, Rybakina will face Poland’s Magda Linette, who defeated Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova with a score of 6-4, 6-3. Rybakina’s performance highlights her strong start in this clay-court tournament ahead of the French Open.

Meanwhile, third-seeded Paula Badosa of Spain saw her match against Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic end prematurely, as Bouzkova retired while the score was tied at 3-3 in the second round of this WTA 500 event. Badosa is set to compete against No. 8 seed Liudmila Samsonova of Russia, who secured a 6-4, 6-4 win over France’s Diane Parry.

In the Grand Prix Sar La Princesse Lalla Meryem in Rabat, Morocco, Spain’s Aliona Bolsova pulled off a first-round upset against sixth-seeded Czech Katerina Siniakova. Bolsova turned the match around after losing the first set, winning 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. This match lasted just under two hours and featured Bolsova saving five of eight break points, capitalizing on ten double faults from Siniakova.

Bolsova’s victory advances her to the second round, where she will face Jaqueline Cristian of Romania.
