Luka Modric Ancelotti Farewell Real Madrid

Madrid, Spain – Luka Modric and Carlo Ancelotti received heartfelt farewells during their last match at the Santiago Bernabéu on May 24, 2025. Both football legends, who have significantly contributed to Real Madrid‘s success, were honored by fans and teammates alike.

Emotions ran high as numerous players paid tribute on social media. Vinicius Jr. declared on Instagram, “Como te quiero a ti, mi hermano, te lo mereces” (“How I love you, my brother, you deserve it”). Fellow Brazilian Rodrygo also praised Lucas Vázquez, saying, “Gracias por estos años y sobre todo la amistad” (“Thank you for these years and especially for the friendship”).

Midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni expressed regret over the season not meeting expectations, stating, “Este no es el año que queríamos regalarte” (“This is not the year we wanted to gift you”), as he reflected on Modric and Ancelotti’s illustrious careers.

During the ceremony, the club recognized Lucas Vázquez for his 400 appearances. Despite not being part of the official farewell, he received a standing ovation from the crowd. Tears flowed as the realities of their departures set in.

In a poignant message, Modric thanked the fans, saying, “No tengo palabras para agradeceros todo lo que me habéis dado” (“I have no words to thank you for everything you have given me”). He then highlighted a future challenge: the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

Ancelotti, visibly moved, added, “Ha sido un honor; Hala Madrid y nada más” (“It has been an honor; Hala Madrid and nothing more”). The match culminated in a 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad, marking a fitting end to their time with the club.
