Enzo shines as Argentina continue perfect run at Copa America 2024
Enzo Fernandes played a crucial role in Argentina‘s 2-0 victory over Peru at Copa America 2024, as they maintained their 100% record in the tournament.
Argentina’s manager, Lionel Scaloni, made nine changes to the starting line-up, which saw Enzo initially starting on the bench.
However, Fernandes made an impact when he came on in the final 30 minutes, setting up Lautaro Martinez for the second goal.
With three wins out of three, Argentina secured the top spot in Group A, setting up a potential quarter-final clash against Chelsea teammates Kante and Pulisic if Ecuador secures second place in their group.
Venezuela leads Group B with six points, ensuring top spot, while Ecuador and Mexico vie for the second position.
In the match against Peru, Argentina dominated proceedings, with Martinez breaking the deadlock early in the second half after a deft pass from Angel Di Maria.
VAR ruled out a goal from Tagliafico following an infringement by Lo Celso, but Enzo’s introduction in the 66th minute injected energy into the team.
Paredes had a chance to score from the penalty spot after a handball, but he hit the post, before Enzo’s assist led to Martinez’s second goal in the dying minutes.
