Erin Andrews Expresses Uncertainty About Having Another Child After Surrogacy
Erin Andrews, the renowned sports broadcaster, has recently opened up about her hesitation in expanding her family. In an interview with E News, Andrews discussed the challenges she and her husband, former NHL player Jarret Stoll, faced in having their first child via surrogacy 15 months ago.
Andrews and Stoll welcomed their son, Mack Roger Stoll, on June 28, 2023, after a decade-long struggle with fertility issues. Andrews had endured multiple failed IVF attempts, including the loss of two embryos, before their surrogate became pregnant with their son.
Despite feeling more comfortable with the process now, Andrews admitted to experiencing anxiety and PTSD-like symptoms when considering another attempt at having a child. “It’s crazy, because once you get back on the phone with your fertility doctor and you start talking about the journey again, PTSD all comes back of how crappy you felt, how numb your body gets, just the fear of loss,” she said.
Andrews also highlighted the emotional journey her husband went through, noting that his openness about his feelings was a significant support for her. “Sometimes men don’t want to talk about this stuff, but they’re also feeling the feels, too,” she said, appreciating Stoll’s honesty during their challenging times.
The couple emphasized the importance of honesty, patience, and financial preparedness in navigating the infertility journey and its impact on their marriage. Andrews stressed that while the process is taxing, the end result makes it worthwhile.
As they consider the possibility of a second child, Andrews acknowledged the challenges of raising a toddler while both she and her husband are busy with their careers. She emphasized the need for support from friends and family, especially given their demanding schedules.
