Indeed, Dragon identified the Denver Broncos as a potential landing spot for Hufanga, citing his talent and past performance. “Injuries have hampered Hufanga the past two seasons,” Dragon noted. “The defensive back has played a combined 17 games in two years while dealing with a torn ACL and other bumps. However, Hufanga is one of the NFL’s better safeties when he’s on the field. He was a first-team All-Pro in 2022.”

The Broncos struggled in pass defense last season, finishing in the bottom half of the league. A pairing of Hufanga alongside Defensive Player of the Year cornerback Pat Surtain could significantly bolster Denver’s secondary, according to analysts.

As for Ward, Dragon sees the Detroit Lions as an ideal fit. “Ward allowed a 61% completion percentage and five touchdowns in 2024,” he stated. “He was a 2023 Pro Bowl and a second-team All-Pro at cornerback. The Lions had the 30th-ranked pass defense in the NFL last season, and Detroit cornerback Carlton Davis is slated to hit free agency.”

The 49ers are not only grappling with potential losses in the defensive backfield. Other notable pending free agents include linebacker Fred Warner and guard Aaron Banks, suggesting the team could be in the market for replacements either through free agency or the upcoming NFL Draft.
