Kyle Juszczyk San Francisco 49ers Fullback

San Francisco, CA — The San Francisco 49ers announced on March 10, 2025, that they are releasing veteran fullback Kyle Juszczyk, marking the end of an eight-season tenure with the team. This decision, reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, follows the recent trade of Deebo Samuel and the departure of seven other veterans.

Juszczyk, a four-time All-Pro and nine-time Pro Bowler, was due to make a base salary of $4.1 million in 2025. His release will save the 49ers $2.9 million against the salary cap. If designated as a post-June 1 release, the savings could rise to $4.6 million, according to OverTheCap.com.

The Baltimore Ravens originally selected Juszczyk in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He made an impact during his time with the 49ers, rushing for 212 yards and five touchdowns on 60 carries. In addition, he recorded 184 receptions for a total of 1,895 yards and 13 receiving touchdowns.

Last season, Juszczyk played 50% of the 49ers’ offensive snaps. He expressed his desire to continue his NFL career after the release. “There’s a lot up in the air and who’s going to be here, who’s not. Some contracts that need to be figured out,” Juszczyk said. “I just hope it doesn’t affect me.”

General Manager John Lynch discussed Juszczyk’s status at the NFL Scouting Combine last month, saying, “He’s been really valuable to us, so he’s part of us. We’re trying to make everything work, and some tighter constraints than we’ve had in the past.”

With Juszczyk now available as a free agent, other teams looking for a fullback will have the opportunity to acquire one of the league’s most accomplished players at the position.
