49ers Sign Former Seahawks Cornerback Tre Brown to Bolster Defense

San Francisco, California — The San Francisco 49ers have strengthened their defensive secondary by signing former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Tre Brown, his agency, The Sports Entertainment Group, announced on Instagram. The terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
Brown, selected in the fourth round (No. 137 overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft, spent four seasons with the Seahawks. During his tenure, he recorded one interception, eight passes defensed, two forced fumbles, one sack, and 74 combined tackles across 39 games, 13 of which were starts.
At 5 feet 10 inches and 185 pounds, Brown is expected to add depth at the cornerback position for the 49ers. He is likely to compete for a spot behind either Deommodore Lenoir or Renardo Green, both of whom are anticipated to play significant roles in the upcoming season.
The addition of Brown comes as the NFL’s legal tampering period opened on Monday, marking a critical time for free agency negotiations. The official signing window will begin on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
The 49ers are in the midst of an active free agency period, exploring various player acquisitions to enhance their roster. As teams navigate the complexities of new contracts and team needs, securing reliable talent like Brown could prove pivotal for San Francisco’s defensive strategies.
Updates on the NFL’s free agency landscape will continue to emerge as teams finalize their positions and players confirm their new roles. The 49ers’ move to bring Brown into the mix aligns with their commitment to building a robust and competitive squad as the new league year approaches.
