Mayawati Reshuffles BSP Leadership, Nephew Removed as Successor and National Coordinator
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati has made significant changes in the party’s leadership structure, announcing the removal of her nephew Akash Anand from his roles as the party’s successor and National Coordinator.
In a recent series of statements on social media platform X, Mayawati emphasized the importance of the BSP as a movement dedicated to the ideals of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and social change, highlighting her lifelong commitment alongside Kanshi Ram.
Mayawati’s decision to separate Akash Anand from these key responsibilities was attributed to the need for him to reach full maturity, indicating a strategic move for the party’s future.
Following the reshuffle, Anand Kumar, father of Akash Anand, will continue to play a role within the BSP, ensuring the party’s operations and objectives remain intact.
A previously controversial incident involving Akash Anand at a rally in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, where he made remarks comparing the state government to the Taliban, had drawn attention. This led to a Model Code of Conduct violation case being registered against Anand and several others.
The BSP leader’s strong words at the rally, linking the BJP government to the Taliban, stirred controversy and prompted legal action by the authorities.
The allegations made by Akash Anand at the gathering, including accusations of government corruption and failing to address public safety concerns, further escalated tensions during the election period in the state.
The incident resulted in a case being filed against Anand, along with party candidates Mahendra Yadav, Shyam Awasthi, Akshay Kalra, and rally organizer Vikas Rajvanshi, by the local law enforcement.
In response to the violation of the Model Code of Conduct and the inflammatory language used during the rally, Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra took action against the individuals involved, signaling a strict enforcement of electoral guidelines.
