Esports Charts Reveal Top Trending Titles of Q3 2024
As part of their quarterly reports, Esports Charts has released data showcasing the most popular esports titles in the third quarter of 2024. The report details peak concurrent viewership figures for single tournaments within the period, with only the best result being considered for each game. The diversity of esports genres is notable in the top ten rankings, with one particular franchise boasting three entries.
Leading the pack with an impressive 2.38 million peak viewers is Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (ML:BB). This title has become a significant hit among fans in Southeast Asia. The recent Mid-Season Cup marked the game’s first major international event outside Asia, successfully stepping onto the global stage with an impressive turnout that signals future growth for the game.
Other major titles included in the report, such as League of Legends, struggled to match ML:BB’s numbers without hosting a major international event in the quarter. League of Legends did, however, see a peak with its Mid-Season Invitational, supported by a strong Korean audience.
Down the list, Dota 2 and Valorant achieved high ranks due to end-of-year events capping off their major tournaments of 2024. Valorant saw a slight increase in peak viewership, although it experienced the lowest average concurrent viewers since its series inception.
The ranking highlights that hosting prestigious events in Q3 greatly benefited Dota 2 and Valorant. Counter-Strike also reached over one million viewers for the second time, ranking fifth for the quarter.
Fortnite‘s esports scene has been revitalized with significant strides, underscored by the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) 2024 Global Championship, which achieved 809.9K peak viewers. The event marks Fortnite’s most popular esports event since 2019.
Arena of Valor, another title present in the rankings, recorded 699.9K peak viewers. As an international adaptation of the popular Honor of Kings, it capitalizes on viewership from Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
In the latter part of the rankings, titles from the PUBG franchise made their presence known. PUBG Mobile’s collaboration with the Esports World Cup resulted in its most popular event of the year, drawing significant audience numbers before the launch of its upcoming world championship.
In summary, Q3 of 2024 showed stable viewership trends at the high end of the esports spectrum. MOBA titles like ML:BB and League of Legends maintained dominance, with shooters such as Valorant and Counter-Strike following closely. Battle royale games like Fortnite and the PUBG franchise made notable comebacks, emphasizing growing support throughout the quarter.
