Evan Engram Broncos Visit Nfl

DENVER, Colo. — Veteran tight end Evan Engram is visiting the Denver Broncos today as he seeks a new team following his release from the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. Engram, 30, will meet with the Broncos ahead of the NFL’s legal tampering period.

Engram was let go by the Jaguars on March 7, a move that saved the team $5.98 million in cap space for the upcoming season despite a $13.5 million dead money charge. The release followed a season marred by injuries, limiting him to just nine games where he recorded 47 receptions for 365 yards and one touchdown.

This visit comes after a standout year in 2023, where Engram earned Pro Bowl honors by catching 114 passes for 963 yards and four touchdowns. As a first-round draft pick by the New York Giants in 2017, Engram has accumulated significant experience over his career, amassing 108 games played with 89 starts between New York and Jacksonville.

With the Broncos looking to bolster their tight end position, Engram could provide a crucial target for quarterback Bo Nix. The tight end position was lacking for Denver during the 2024 season, with Adam Trautman leading the team’s tight ends with just 188 receiving yards. Engram offers a versatile skill set that appeals to teams looking to maximize their offensive strategies.

In the past two seasons with the Jaguars, Engram combined for 171 targets and more than 1,700 receiving yards, showcasing his capability as a reliable receiving option. Nonetheless, his injury history raises questions about his long-term durability. During the 2024 campaign, he missed three games due to a hamstring injury before suffering a torn labrum that required surgery.

Despite reaching the age of 31 in September, Engram has expressed his determination to return to his previous form. He stated, “I’ve always had a passion for the game, and I’m excited about the possibility of joining a winning team. I believe I have much more to give on the field.”

The Broncos have also shown interest in other tight end options, including Saints tight end Juwan Johnson, increasing the competition for Engram. However, should he sign with Denver, it would not only enhance the team’s tight end corps but also provide Nix with a trusted weapon as they build towards the future.

If the Broncos decide against signing Engram, expect them to explore other avenues in free agency or through the draft to address the tight end position. As the off-season unfolds, Engram’s next destination remains uncertain but optimistic.
