Everton Vs Peterborough Fa Cup Icy Conditions

Everton‘s FA Cup third-round match against Peterborough United is set to proceed as scheduled on Thursday, despite icy conditions on Merseyside. The match, which will take place at Goodison Park, had been in doubt due to adverse weather conditions, including a yellow weather warning for snow and ice.

A safety meeting held at 1 p.m. GMT on Thursday confirmed that the game could go ahead safely. An Everton spokesperson stated, ‘A safety meeting was held this afternoon to assess the weather and travel conditions for fans attending the tie, which confirmed the game can go ahead.’

Everton staff, along with Liverpool City Council’s Streetscene Services team, have been working to treat roads and footpaths around the stadium to ensure safe access for supporters. Fans are advised to prepare for cold conditions and allow extra time for travel.

The match comes amid a turbulent time for Everton, as manager Sean Dyche was sacked just hours before kickoff. Under-18s manager Leighton Baines and club captain Seamus Coleman will take temporary charge for the game. Everton has struggled in the Premier League this season, with only three wins in 19 games, while Peterborough United sits 19th in Football League One.

This will be only the second meeting between the two teams, with Everton having won their previous encounter in the League Cup in 2006. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+ in the United States and BBC Sport in the United Kingdom, among other platforms.
