Everton‘s Senior Team fitness coach, Jack Dowling, has achieved a remarkable feat by completing 26 marathons in 26 weeks in commemoration of his late brother, Tom, while raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Dowling’s marathon journey began following Tom’s cancer diagnosis, inspiring him to embark on this challenging endeavor known as Project26:26.

Finishing his last marathon at the 2024 London Marathon just before Everton’s 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, Dowling covered the impressive distance equivalent to Goodison Park to Berlin.

Tragically, Tom succumbed to cancer in late March, prompting an outpouring of support and condolences from Everton and MacMillan for Dowling and his family.

After Dowling’s triumphant completion of the 26 marathons, Sean Dyche, the manager of Everton, commended his outstanding dedication and fundraising achievements, expressing pride in Dowling’s remarkable mission.

Dyche acknowledged the profound impact of Dowling’s efforts in honoring his brother and supporting the cause, recognizing the thousands of pounds raised for charity through this initiative.

The football community, alongside Everton fans, rallied behind Dowling, backing him throughout his arduous yet inspiring journey to commemorate Tom’s legacy.

Although the marathon challenge has reached its conclusion, donations are still welcomed by Dowling on various platforms, including social media and a dedicated fundraising website, to continue the support for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Supporters can contribute by visiting the fundraising page, following Dowling on Instagram, or simply texting PROJECT2626 to 70550 for a £5 donation.
