Nfl Draft 2025 Highlights

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (AP) — The 2025 NFL Draft kicked off Thursday night, energizing fans and teams alike with unexpected choices and bold trades. The Tennessee Titans selected quarterback Asher Ward as the first overall pick, but many eyes were on the Jacksonville Jaguars, who traded up to grab the versatile Travis Hunter second overall.

Ward, 23, previously led the Miami Hurricanes and boasts a strong arm and leadership skills. He produced an impressive 158 career touchdown passes. The Titans are hoping his addition will help alter their recent struggles in the AFC South, where they’ve finished last in the division for two consecutive years.

Hunter, who played both cornerback and wide receiver at Colorado, is touted for his unique talent and dynamic playmaking abilities. Jaguars General Manager James Gladstone sees Hunter as a potential game changer for the offense and defense, depending on team needs.

The New York Giants made a key defensive pick with their third overall selection, choosing edge rusher Abdul Carter from Penn State, while the New England Patriots fortified their offensive line by selecting offensive tackle Josh Campbell from LSU at No. 4. Campbell’s ability to protect fellow rookie quarterback Drake Maye was a primary consideration for the Patriots.

A surprise move came when the Cleveland Browns picked defensive tackle Jaxon Graham at fifth overall after trading down to acquire more assets, thus addressing a critical gap in their defensive front.

In a notable offensive shift, the Las Vegas Raiders selected Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty with the sixth pick, reinforcing their rushing attack. Jeanty makes the decision as the first running back to be taken in the top 10 since Saquon Barkley in 2018.

Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins bolstered their defense, picking Michigan defensive tackle Julian Grant, and the Philadelphia Eagles made a noteworthy move by injecting flexibility into their linebacker corps with Alabama’s Kaden Campbell at No. 31.

The Philadelphia Eagles, known for their unique strategies, have once again chosen a player capable of contributing in multiple schemes as they look to capitalize on their recent success.

As the first round wrapped, analysts declared it a success, highlighting the significant changes and fresh hopes for franchises across the league. The draft will continue over the weekend, promising more excitement as teams finalize their rosters for the upcoming season.
