Faith Christian Leads at PIAA Wrestling Championships as Finals Approach

HERSHEY, Pa. — The 2025 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Wrestling State Championships are in full swing, with Faith Christian Academy leading the team race heading into the finals tomorrow night. Following a stellar semifinal round, Faith Christian advanced six wrestlers to the championship matches, solidifying their position while facing strong competition from Bishop McCort, who has four finalists of their own.
As the tournament progresses, teams are closely tracking their standings. Faith Christian leads with 187.5 points, while Bishop McCort trails with 168.5 points. Bishop McDevitt, Grove City, and Montoursville round out the top five, indicating a highly competitive atmosphere. The championship matches are expected to be intense, especially in the 145-pound, 152-pound, and 160-pound categories where Faith Christian’s wrestlers will face off against McCort’s top competitors.
The standings reflect a wide array of talented wrestlers. Noteworthy performances include five teams currently positioned between 60 and 67 points, with Bethlehem Catholic at the forefront (67 points), alongside Northampton and Thomas Jefferson, each with two finalists vying for top honors.
"Every match counts at this level; the stakes are high and we’re here to prove ourselves," said Faith Christian head coach Andrew Stroup. The stakes are even higher with six different programs managing to push six wrestlers into the semifinal rounds, indicating a deep pool of talent.
The competition has been fierce, with Easton, Palisades, Chestnut Ridge, and Quakertown also boasting two finalists each. Easton leads as they head into the final day, amplified by one wrestler still alive on the consolation side, showcasing their depth.
In the girls’ competition, Montgomery and Souderton have both managed to advance four wrestlers to the semifinals, placing them in advantageous positions for the next round. Competitors are poised to separate themselves further as the tournament heads into its concluding sessions.
The momentum will carry over into tomorrow as teams prepare for the final matches. With both Faith Christian and Bishop McCort maintaining the top spots, anticipation builds among fans and competitors alike as the champions will soon be crowned.
