Jeopardy Contestants In Action During Game Show

KENNEWICK, Wash. – In a highly anticipated quarterfinal match of Jeopardy! on February 20, 2025, fan-favorite contestant Troy Meyer was unexpectedly eliminated. Competing against Raymond Goslow from Marietta, Georgia, and Jackie Kelly from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Meyer’s defeat left audiences stunned.

Goslow, who is known for being the 2022 National College Championship first runner-up, faced off against Meyer, a seasoned trivia expert and the 2024 Tournament of Champions second runner-up. Kelly, also a strong competitor, had previously competed as a four-game champion during Season 38.

The game commenced with a tight first round, where Meyer answered nine out of 30 questions correctly, including a Daily Double. Goslow matched his total with an impressive performance, but Kelly lagged behind with $1,600.

In Double Jeopardy!, the competition intensified. Meyer surged ahead with several correct responses, while Goslow rallied to take the lead by answering a Daily Double right after Kelly. This brought Goslow’s total to $15,600 as he and Meyer continued to trade correct answers, each putting pressure on the other.

Kelly, however, made a strong comeback by correctly responding to three questions in a row, finally securing herself in second place with $11,200. As the game progressed, Goslow finished Double Jeopardy! with $25,200, leading Meyer at $19,800 and Kelly at $13,200.

The Final Jeopardy! category was “The Southwest.” The question, “The four-syllable name of this city is almost identical to its namesake town in Spain, except that the Spanish one has an extra ‘R’,” saw Meyer answer correctly, bringing his total to $27,401 after wagering $7,601. Meanwhile, Goslow also nailed the answer with “What is Albuquerque?” putting him in the lead at $39,601 also after wagering $14,601. It was enough for him to advance to the semifinals, marking the second highest score of the season.

After the game, Goslow expressed his excitement about the match, stating, “I think this has to be one of the most fun and dynamic games of Jeopardy! I’ve ever experienced, as a player or a viewer.” Fans took to social media to congratulate him, with many expressing their shock over Meyer’s early exit from the tournament.

“Shocking as it may be to see Troy go down already in the quarterfinals when many thought he was the favorite to win the whole thing, it adds an element of unpredictability to the tournament,” commented one fan.

Another expressed disbelief at the turn of events, stating, “OMG I was expecting Troy to dominate but both Jackie and Raymond put a stop to that.” With this unexpected twist, viewers are eager to see how the rest of the tournament unfolds.

The next episode of Jeopardy! on February 21 will introduce three new contestants: Maya Wright, Jeopardy! High School Reunion Tournament competitor; Roger Craig, a one-day winning record holder; and a 2021 Tournament of Champions finalist.
