Fantasy Basketball: Top Waiver Wire Drops Shake Up Rosters
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – As the NBA season enters its 15th week, fantasy basketball managers are making tough decisions on roster adjustments. Several players, including Luke Kennard, Cole Anthony, and Guerschon Yabusele, have seen significant drops in ownership percentages, according to FantasySP data.
Luke Kennard, a guard for the Memphis Grizzlies, has been dropped in 7% of leagues, bringing his ownership rate to 37%. Kennard’s inconsistent shooting has frustrated fantasy managers. In his last game, he scored just four points on 1-of-7 shooting, a stark contrast to his 50-point combined performance in the two games prior. For the season, Kennard averages 9.8 points, 3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game, but his streaky nature makes him a risky fantasy option.
Cole Anthony, the Orlando Magic guard, has also seen a decline in ownership, dropping 6.5% to 31%. Anthony’s role has diminished recently, with just 19 minutes played in his last game after starting or logging at least 26 minutes in nine straight contests. He averages 8.4 points and 2.8 rebounds this season, but his reduced playing time has made him a less appealing fantasy asset.
Guerschon Yabusele, a forward for the Philadelphia 76ers, has been dropped in 6.1% of leagues, leaving him with a 43% ownership rate. Despite injuries on the Sixers’ roster, Yabusele’s recent struggles have led to his decline. He averages 10.3 points and 5.5 rebounds this season, but his inconsistent performances have made him a fringe fantasy option.
Other notable drop candidates include Ty Jerome of the Cleveland Cavaliers, who has seen a 5.3% drop in ownership, and Scotty Pippen Jr. of the Memphis Grizzlies, down 5% to 33%. Jerome’s wild scoring fluctuations and Pippen’s recent scoring slump have made them less reliable for fantasy managers.
FantasySP’s waiver wire trends highlight the challenges of managing rosters in deeper leagues. As injuries and role changes continue to impact player performance, managers must stay vigilant to maximize their lineups.
