Fantasy Football Starts and Sits: Higgins vs. Coleman Ahead of Texans vs. Bills
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — The Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills are set for a Thursday night showdown, with both teams entering Week 12 after recent victories. Fantasy football managers are looking closely at the potential contributions of wide receivers Jayden Higgins from the Texans and Keon Coleman from the Bills.
Last week, Coleman, who was expected to be a key player, was a last-minute scratch from the lineup due to disciplinary reasons after being late to practice. Before that, he had a standout performance against the Miami Dolphins, recording three receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown. Coleman is now looking to rebound against a tough Texans defense on Thursday.
The Texans have allowed the third-fewest passing yards per game this season, presenting a formidable challenge for opposing receivers. Recent games show that they have kept opposing wide receivers under wraps, allowing a maximum of 41 receiving yards to any single receiver in their last three matchups. This trend raises concern for Coleman, who has struggled to reach 30 receiving yards in six of his nine games this season.
Meanwhile, Jayden Higgins, a rookie for the Texans, is starting to make a name for himself. In the last two games, he has caught a total of nine passes for 97 yards, including a stellar outing against the Tennessee Titans where he amassed 55 yards on four receptions. Higgins has gained increased attention, especially since he has been receiving a higher target volume lately.
As Higgins prepares to face Buffalo, he encounters another strong pass defense. The Bills have been effective at limiting opposing WR2 production, allowing an average of only 49 receiving yards combined to the second-string receivers in their last three games.
Given the statistics and current form, the consensus among analysts is to start Coleman while sitting Higgins this week. Although Higgins has shown promise with increasing targets, he may not be able to deliver against Buffalo’s stellar defense. Coleman, despite his recent absence, holds the potential for a breakout performance compared to Higgins’ tough matchup.
The decision aligns with the strategic necessities for Fantasy Football managers considering their lineups ahead of Thursday’s game.
