Farmingdale, New York – Jordan Petzold, a Class of 2026 offensive guard from Farmingdale High School, is making waves in the college recruitment circuit. Weighing 270 pounds and standing 6 feet 1 inch tall, Petzold has recently visited James Madison University (JMU) and Villanova, both of which are actively recruiting him.

During his visit to James Madison, Petzold expressed enthusiasm about the school’s culture and the intensity of their practices. “The competition was amazing,” he said. “Talking to offensive line Coach Chris Smith was great, and I am very interested in JMU. I look forward to continuing to build my relationship with their staff.”

Petzold praised Villanova as well, sharing his experience of observing their practice. “Their coaching staff is great. Multiple coaches from Villanova have visited my school, and I appreciate the effort they make to build a relationship with me,” he noted.

In addition to JMU and Villanova, Petzold has attracted interest from Marist, Stonehill, Bucknell, and Maine. He spoke about his interactions with their coaching staffs, expressing excitement about forming connections. “The offensive line coach from Marist came to my school to talk to me, and I’m looking forward to continuing our relationship,” he stated.

Petzold expressed that he has a busy summer planned, focusing on attending various camps across the Northeast. “I’m going to have a full schedule of camps,” he said, adding that he did not give up any sacks last season, highlighting his effectiveness on the field.

When asked what makes him stand out as a lineman, Petzold credited his physical play and aggressive style. “I think it’s how physical I play, my leverage, and my nastiness,” he explained. “I finish every block possible.”

His preference for playing guard arises from the thrill of one-on-one matchups, where he says the feeling of overpowering an opponent is unmatched.

Currently, Petzold ranks Villanova highly among the schools interested in him, acknowledging their strong recruiting efforts. “They have shown great interest, and it’s been great so far building a relationship with them,” he said.

As he looks ahead, Petzold is also studying various offensive linemen, including Aaron Brewer, Brian Allen, and particularly Willie Lampkin. “Willie does crazy things at 5-10, 290 in the ACC. He plays with insane leverage that every offensive lineman should aim for,” Petzold noted.
