ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A 63-year-old woman from Ponte Vedra was killed in a crash on U.S. 1 at Pine Island Road Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The accident happened around 8 a.m., shutting down all northbound lanes of U.S. 1 for several hours as emergency officials worked at the scene. FHP reported that the woman was attempting to make a left turn from Pine Island Road when her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by an SUV driven by a 19-year-old man from St. Augustine, who was traveling north.
