Fatal Shooting Near Vcu Campus Prompts Joint Investigation By Richmond And Vcu Police

Richmond and VCU Police have launched a joint investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred in the vicinity of the Monroe Park campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. The incident took place on the 300 block of West Broad Street in downtown Richmond, Virginia.

According to Richmond Police, the shooting is believed to have stemmed from an altercation in the area. Authorities responded to a call at around 3:22 a.m. reporting a person shot on West Broad Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male with a gunshot wound lying unresponsive on the roadway. Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Additionally, another adult male, who had sustained gunshot wounds, was reportedly transported to a local hospital in a personal vehicle. His condition has been described as critical, with injuries deemed life-threatening.

Details regarding the identities of the individuals involved in the shooting, as well as potential suspects, have not yet been disclosed by law enforcement.
