FAU Owls Face UAB Blazers in Thrilling Rematch Thursday Night

Birmingham, Ala. — The Florida Atlantic University Owls are set to face off against the University of Alabama at Birmingham Blazers on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Bartow Arena, marking their second matchup this season.
Previously, the two teams clashed in January, where the Blazers edged out the Owls with a narrow five-point victory. In that nail-biter, FAU held a precarious two-point lead with just 2:43 remaining in the game, but UAB closed out the contest with an 8-1 scoring run to secure the win.
The Owls struggled against UAB’s standout forward, Lendeborg, who had a stellar performance in January with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. Lendeborg has consistently been a dominant force for the Blazers this season, leading the team in multiple statistical categories including points per game (17.3), rebounds (10.7), assists (4.2), blocks (1.8), and steals (1.6).
In UAB’s recent game against No. 16 team, the Blazers faced a setback, with Lendeborg scoring just 10 points on a 4-of-10 shooting performance. The Owls, conversely, are coming off a crucial 69-63 victory against in-state rival Florida Gulf Coast University, which halted a three-game losing streak.
FAU forward Jones played a pivotal role in the team’s recent win, scoring a game-high 17 points and contributing three blocks, tying freshman big man Matas Vokietaitis for the team lead in that category. This resurgence comes at a crucial time as the Owls aim to climb the standings in the American Athletic Conference (AAC).
As of now, FAU is tied with East Carolina University for fifth place in the AAC, with a beneficial tie-breaker stemming from their earlier victory over the Pirates. The two teams will meet again on Sunday, adding further importance to Thursday’s matchup.
Fans and supporters are encouraged to engage in discussions and share their predictions during this highly anticipated game as FAU looks to avenge their earlier loss to UAB.
