Canaanland Airstrip Construction

The Nigerian Federal Government has granted approval for the construction of an airstrip at Faith Tabernacle in Canaanland, Ogun State. The announcement was made by Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, commonly known as Winners Chapel, during the Tehillah Night Special Edition at the Covenant University Chapel on Sunday.

Bishop Oyedepo, addressing his congregation, explained that the new airstrip would allow for direct travel from the church premises, thus removing the necessity to travel first to the airport. He stated, “I am sure you will be glad to know that the Federal Government has approved an airstrip for Canaanland. I won’t need to fly a helicopter to the airport. I can leave from here to wherever I am going. Members with their planes will have where to land and park.”

The airstrip project is intended to improve access for worshippers and visitors, particularly during large events such as the church’s programs that attract thousands of participants from across the globe. In his speech, Oyedepo highlighted the significance of finding one’s place in God’s plan, citing examples of Covenant University graduates who serve as pilots for the church. He urged young people to pursue their divine purpose diligently.

Moreover, Bishop Oyedepo reiterated the church’s commitment to funding its own projects, ensuring that the airstrip will be a high-quality facility compliant with aviation safety standards. Although specific details regarding the timeline for the construction have not been disclosed, church officials have assured that it will meet regulatory requirements.

This new development comes as part of the church’s broader infrastructural agenda to enhance convenience for its congregants and other visitors. The airstrip is expected to provide substantial benefits, accommodating the vast numbers that visit Canaanland, especially during events like Shiloh, the annual church convention.
