Fernando Alonso Crash Brazilian Grand Prix Qualifying

Fernando Alonso experienced a tumultuous weekend during the qualifying session for the Brazilian Grand Prix. The Aston Martin driver became the fourth driver to cause a red flag after crashing into the barriers during the Q3 session on a rainy day at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Sao Paulo.

The incident occurred when Alonso lost control of his car and spun into the barrier at high speed, although he managed to escape the crash unaided. This was not the only mishap for Aston Martin, as his teammate Lance Stroll had earlier crashed in Q2, disrupting the session and affecting other drivers, including Max Verstappen, who was forced to exit the session early and will start the Grand Prix from 17th position.

The chaotic qualifying session was marked by multiple red flags, with other drivers such as Franco Colapinto and Carlos Sainz also crashing. The conditions were challenging due to the rain, which made the track slippery and difficult to navigate. Alonso’s crash happened just minutes after Stroll’s incident, adding to the pressure on the Aston Martin team to repair both cars before the race.

Alonso, who has been critical of Aston Martin’s performance this season, described the team as being “almost the slowest” on the grid. He attributed their struggles to the car’s handling issues, particularly in corners, and acknowledged that the team’s current form is unlikely to change in the remaining races of the season.
