In related news, Shelton Henderson, the No. 14 overall recruit in the 2025 class, has parted ways with Duke after being released from his National Letter of Intent. Sources tell 247Sports that this decision follows a series of changes in the Blue Devils’ roster outlook for the 2025-26 season.
The 6-foot-6 small forward from Bellaire, Texas, originally committed to Duke on Nov. 2, choosing the Blue Devils over Texas and others. Henderson was the last commitment for Duke during their impressive recruiting class but decided to reopen his recruitment amid concerns about depth on the perimeter.
During Henderson’s recruitment at Duke, his primary recruiter was former assistant and current head coach Lucas, who shares Texas roots with Henderson. The two are connected through their shared high school and summer league experiences.
With Henderson now available again, he is expected to attract significant attention at the high-major level, joining a growing list of elite recruits who have reopened their recruitment during this period. Notable players who have also decommitted include players from Kentucky and other top programs.
As Henderson reenters the market, he is now positioned as the second-highest ranked uncommitted player in the 2025 class, just behind Ament.
In other basketball news, No. 1 ranked Auburn secured an 88-66 victory against No. 15 Mississippi State on Tuesday night, despite the absence of star player Johni Broome. Chaney Johnson and Chad Baker-Mazara led the Tigers with a combined 37 points, while the team’s defense stifled an improved scoring attack from the Bulldogs.
On the postgame podcast, analysts Nathan King and Patrick Bingham discussed how Auburn’s lineup adapted without Broome and highlighted players like Miles Kelly, who played a crucial role in the victory.
In transfer news, UC Riverside guard Hargress recently visited the Colorado men’s basketball program, marking the Buffaloes’ first transfer visit of the offseason. Hargress, who was a standout during his two seasons at UC Riverside, averaged 20.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists last season. He is currently regarded as a four-star recruit and is the No. 14-ranked point guard in the transfer portal.
Hargress has also scheduled visits to Georgia Tech and Seton Hall as he explores his options following a successful career at UC Riverside, where he earned All-Big West honors. After redshirting his first year, he made a significant impact as a redshirt freshman, leading to recognition and accolades.
As the recruiting season continues, both Ament and Henderson are among the elite prospects shaping the future of college basketball, drawing interest from top-tier programs across the nation.
