BELÉM, BrazilFlamengo and Botafogo will face off in the Supercopa Rei final on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at Estádio Mangueirão in Belém. The match, scheduled for 4 p.m. Brasília time, will determine the champion of Brazil’s premier football tournament, featuring the winners of the 2024 Brasileirão and Copa do Brasil. The game will be broadcast live on Globo, sportv, and Premiere.

Botafogo enters the match as the reigning Brasileirão and Libertadores champion but has played only one game this season with its current squad, a 2-1 victory over Fluminense on Wednesday. Interim coach Carlos Leiria will lead the team without key players Thiago Almada and Luiz Henrique, with Artur and Matheus Martins likely stepping in as replacements.

Flamengo, meanwhile, rested its main squad during the last round of the Carioca Championship on Thursday. Coach Filipe Luís is expected to field his ideal lineup, including Arrascaeta, who has been specifically prepared for this decisive match. The team’s starting lineup has played only one game in 2025, a 2-0 win against Volta Redonda.

For Botafogo, Leiria may introduce changes, including the potential debut of Artur, who could replace Rafael Lobato. Bastos is expected to start on the bench, with Lucas Halter partnering Alexander Barboza in defense. Flamengo’s lineup may feature Arrascaeta as a starter for the first time this year, with Plata and Bruno Henrique likely forming the attacking duo.

The stakes are high, with both teams already guaranteed R$ 12 million in prize money from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). The champion will receive an additional $1 million (approximately R$ 6 million), bringing the total prize to nearly R$ 18 million.

The Supercopa Rei, a relatively new tournament, has been held regularly since 2020. Flamengo is the most successful team in the competition, having won twice in 2020 and 2021. Other past champions include Grêmio, Corinthians, Atlético-MG, Palmeiras, and São Paulo.

The match will also feature a special performance by Joelma, a renowned singer from Pará, who will debut a new song in collaboration with João Gomes. Joelma, known for her neutrality in football allegiances, has previously performed in jerseys of local teams Paysandu and Remo.
