Flames Jets Hockey Night Canada

CALGARY, Alberta — The Calgary Flames will face the Winnipeg Jets tonight at the Saddledome to close out their season series. The matchup is part of Hockey Night in Canada, and Flames fans are eager for a strong showing.

Dustin Wolf, the Flames’ rookie goaltender, is expected to start, adding to his league-leading total for games and minutes played this season. Wolf is riding momentum after recording a shutout against the San Jose Sharks with 17 saves last Thursday. “He’s young. That’s no problem for him,” said defenseman Rasmus Andersson. “I think all year he’s been good, obviously he’s been better lately, and he’s a hell of a goalie.” Wolf’s save percentage since October 19 stands at .917, faced with 124 high-danger saves this season, the second-most in the league.

Head Coach Ryan Huska praised Wolf’s mindset and preparation. “When I watch him play, there’s not a lot different in the way he shows up at the rink in the morning to the way he starts the game,” Huska said. “I always have confidence in him that he’s going to be ready to go, and he’s going to be a difference-maker for us.”

Meanwhile, Andersson expressed confidence in his own play. He averages 24:10 minutes per game, second on the team, and recently scored his third goal of the season. “I’m playing more PK this year than I’ve ever been, too, which I really enjoy,” he said. Huska acknowledged Andersson’s consistency, saying, “He’s been competitive and moving the puck well.”

Alongside Andersson, MacKenzie Weegar and Yan Kuznetsov are building chemistry on defense. “He’s been great for me the last few games,” Weegar said of Kuznetsov. “I want to be a great pair with him.” Huska noted Kuznetsov’s effectiveness allows Weegar to exercise more creativity in the offensive zone. “He’s done a really good job with that,” Huska said.

As the Flames prepare for the game, the excitement is palpable among the players and fans. Tonight’s contest could be crucial for the team’s standings, adding pressure but also motivation for a strong performance.
