Calgary Flames Vs Seattle Kraken Nhl Game

Calgary, Alberta – The Calgary Flames (33-25-11) will host the Seattle Kraken (30-36-5) at Scotiabank Saddledome tonight at 9 p.m. ET in a pivotal matchup for playoff aspirations. After a successful road trip that culminated in a dramatic 4-3 victory over the New York Islanders, the Flames are aiming to solidify their position in the Western Conference playoff race.

Head Coach Ryan Huska expressed confidence in his team’s momentum, stating, “I’m really pleased with the way the guys played on the road trip. Now, it’s going home and making sure we’re going to keep the momentum going.” The Flames are four points away from the St. Louis Blues, who currently occupy the second Wild Card spot, but Calgary has three games in hand over St. Louis.

Forward Matt Coronato is a key player to watch as he rides a three-game goal-scoring streak, having scored four goals during that span. Coronato emphasized the team’s resilience, stating, “This group has so much heart, so much compete, and we need to bring our best every night from here on out. I think our energy level will be high. We’re excited for these last games.” The Flames also look to welcome back some reinforcements, with defenseman MacKenzie Weegar and forward Joel Farabee expected to return to the lineup. Captain Mikael Backlund, who has missed five games, fully participated in practice and may play tonight.

For the Kraken, the situation is dire with little chance of playoff contention. They are 16 points out of a playoff spot, with their recent form being less than encouraging, having lost two consecutive games including a 5-4 defeat to the Edmonton Oilers. Forward Kaapo Kaako, who scored twice in that game, noted, “I think everyone in this room knows we’ve got to be better and play harder. We’ve just got to find a way in these games.” Despite the difficulties, rookies Matty Beniers and Shane Wright are showing promise, both making strides in their development.

This evening’s clash marks the fourth and final meeting of the regular season between the Flames and Kraken. Calgary has collected four out of a possible six points in their previous encounters, having won a close 3-2 match in February.

Both teams recognize the significance of this game. As the Flames attempt to fortify their playoff hopes, the Kraken are looking to provide a strong finish to an otherwise challenging season. The atmosphere at the Saddledome is expected to be electric, as Flames fans rally to support their team in this pivotal point of the season.
