BARCELONA, Spain — Hansi Flick addressed the media on Friday ahead of FC Barcelona‘s match against Real Betis, providing an update on midfielder Gavi‘s fitness. The match is a key fixture in LaLiga EA Sports on April 5.

Gavi, who missed the previous match against Atlético de Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-finals due to physical discomfort, is expected to return to the lineup. Flick confirmed, “We decided to give him rest against Atlético because he had some discomfort. He no longer has any problems. I have spoken with the doctors and physiotherapists, and he is fit to play tomorrow.”

The German coach emphasized the importance of player recovery, noting that managing fatigue is crucial amid a busy schedule. “We check everything every day, how the players are. But at the highest level, there are always matches constantly, and it is very important to recover the players,” Flick stated. He mentioned that the team’s success depends on maintaining a good rhythm. “When you are winning matches, it gives a lot of confidence,” he added.

Flick detailed the rotation strategy adopted by the team to cope with the demanding match schedule. “We have to manage this issue with so many matches we have. It’s normal. I spoke with the experts, and we decided together what needs to be done and how many minutes they can play each match,” he explained.

Barcelona is in a strong position in LaLiga, leading the table by three points ahead of Real Madrid. The team also aims for a treble this season, having won the Supercopa de España and secured a place in the Copa del Rey final.

Despite the team’s excellent form, Flick urged caution, saying, “Thinking about the treble is great, but we shouldn’t focus on dreams. We need to look at the next match.” He acknowledged the need for focus and hard work to achieve their ambitions.

The Barça manager praised his players’ collective effort, stating, “Everyone is giving their all in training, even those on the bench. It’s a big step towards success.” However, he also pointed out that there are still areas needing improvement, particularly in possession. “When we have possession of the ball, we see a fantastic rhythm, but many teams know how to take advantage of our mistakes,” Flick noted.

As the team prepares to face Real Betis, Flick expressed his hopeful vision for the remainder of the season. “I want to win every match and play 15 more matches for this team, the club, and the fans. If we achieve this, I will be very happy,” he said.

The match against Real Betis is set to kick off at 21:00 on April 5 at Estadio Olímpico Lluís Companys, and is anticipated to be a competitive matchup, with Betis seeking to extend their own winning streak.
