Florida Panthers Dominate Carolina Hurricanes with 6-0 Shutout
The Florida Panthers delivered a convincing performance, sweeping their home-and-home series against the Carolina Hurricanes with a 6-0 victory on Saturday at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. This win follows their 6-3 triumph over the Hurricanes in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Friday.
Spencer Knight was instrumental in the Panthers’ success, making 20 saves to secure his first shutout of the season and his fourth in the NHL. The Panthers’ offense was potent, particularly in the third period, where they scored four goals to pull away from the Hurricanes. Sam Bennett extended his goal-scoring streak to three games, while Aleksander Barkov contributed a goal and an assist. Matthew Tkachuk provided two assists, and the team scored three goals in a span of just 1:24 in the third period.
Aaron Ekblad opened the scoring for the Panthers with a sharp-angled wrist shot in the second period. Mackie Samoskevich added a power-play goal in the final second of the second period. The third period saw goals from Bennett, Barkov, Boqvist, and Evan Rodrigues, sealing the 6-0 shutout. This victory marked the Panthers’ third consecutive win, improving their record to 15-9-1.
For the Hurricanes, Spencer Martin allowed five goals on 28 shots before being replaced by Yaniv Perets in the third period. Perets stopped six of seven shots but could not prevent the Panthers from scoring their final goal.
