Florida Stages Dramatic Comeback to Reach Little League World Series Championship
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — In a thrilling semifinal match at the Little League World Series, the Florida team demonstrated remarkable resilience by overcoming a four-run deficit to defeat Texas 10-7 and secure a place in the championship game.
The match began favorably for Texas, who quickly took a 4-0 lead in the third inning. Starting pitcher Julian Hurst displayed dominance on the mound, having not allowed a hit up to that point. However, the game took a dramatic turn in the following innings.
Florida’s comeback commenced in the fourth inning when James Feliciano’s single led to a run, followed by Teraj Alexander’s daring steal of home. This play marked Florida’s first lead of the game, igniting excitement among their fans.
Despite trailing again as Texas rallied for three runs to make it 7-5, Florida entered the sixth inning with determination. They managed to tie the game, thanks to a sacrifice fly from Liam Morrisey and a critical two-run double from Luis Calo.
In a final twist, Florida capitalized on an error by Texas, allowing Morrisey to score and seal the comeback victory. Manager Jonathan Anderson expressed his pride in the team’s hard work throughout the summer and emphasized their drive toward the championship.
Florida will now face Chinese Taipei in the championship game, providing an opportunity for the Southeast region representative to claim its first title since 2003.
