Flying Pig Marathon Weekend Welcomes 39,000 Participants

Cincinnati, OH – More than 39,000 participants are registered for the upcoming Flying Pig Marathon weekend, set to kick off on Saturday, May 4. The event features multiple races and activities as well as road closures throughout the city.
Festivities begin on Thursday and Friday with the Fitness Expo at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. Runners scheduled for Sunday’s races, which include the half marathon and full marathon, will be able to collect their event packets at the expo. Those taking part in the Friday or Saturday races, like the 5K or 10K, can pick up their packets at the same venue on Wednesday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The weekend’s first race, the Fifty West Mile, is set to take place on Friday at 7 p.m. along W. Pete Rose Way. For those wishing to cheer on the runners, several designated “Spectator Party Zones” will be available for viewing various portions of the race. More information on these spectator zones will be provided, particularly for areas near the start and finish lines.
As race day approaches, participants and spectators planning to park downtown are advised to consider multiple parking lots, depending on the race day. Organizers stress that anyone driving downtown should allow plenty of time to find parking and walk to their specific locations.
Due to the numerous races occurring throughout Cincinnati, residents can expect various road closures during the Flying Pig Marathon weekend. A complete list of these closures will be shared closer to the event.
