Former Bears Cornerback Kindle Vildor May Fill In for Injured Lions Starters
As the Detroit Lions prepare to face the Chicago Bears, they are dealing with significant injuries to their starting lineup. Cornerback Carlton Davis III and left tackle Taylor Decker have been ruled out for the game due to knee injuries. This situation could lead to former Chicago Bears cornerback Kindle Vildor stepping in to fill the void.
Vildor, who was drafted by the Bears in the fifth round out of Georgia Southern in 2020, has experience playing for the Lions. He started 22 games for the Bears from 2020-2022 before moving to the Tennessee Titans and Philadelphia Eagles, and eventually signing with the Lions. Last week, Vildor filled in for the injured Terrion Arnold, and with Davis now out, he is a potential candidate to replace him again.
The Lions have several options to replace Davis, including Vildor, veteran Khalil Dorsey, and Emmanuel Moseley. Dorsey came in to replace Davis last week when he was injured, but the Lions have not confirmed their exact plan for the upcoming game. Vildor’s performance against the Colts, where he was targeted successfully several times, will be a factor in the Lions’ decision.
Despite the injuries, the Lions are optimistic about their lineup, with running back David Montgomery and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown expected to play after participating in full practices on Wednesday. The team also has veteran Dan Skipper ready to fill in for Decker at left tackle).
