Former Bears Stars Steve McMichael, Devin Hester, and Julius Peppers Elected to Pro Football Hall of Fame
Former stars of the Chicago Bears, Steve McMichael, Devin Hester, and Julius Peppers, have been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame as members of the Class of 2024. The announcement was made during the NFL Honors TV show in Las Vegas, which is also hosting the Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place in Canton, Ohio, in August, where the three players will join other football legends.
Steve McMichael, known as ‘Mongo,’ had an impressive career with the Bears from 1981-1993. He played a record-setting 191 consecutive games and is ranked second in team history with 92.5 sacks. McMichael was a vital part of the Bears’ iconic 1985 Super Bowl XX championship defense, regarded as one of the best in NFL history.
Devin Hester, a dynamic return specialist, made a name for himself with the Bears from 2006-2013. Hester holds the records for the most punt return touchdowns and combined return touchdowns in NFL history. His electrifying returns often shifted the momentum of games and earned him numerous accolades.
Julius Peppers, an exceptional defensive end, played for the Bears from 2010-2013. His imposing presence on the field and ability to disrupt offenses made him a feared pass rusher. Peppers is considered one of the most dominant defensive players in the league and has an impressive career resume.
This honor is well-deserved for all three players who have left an indelible mark on the Chicago Bears franchise and the sport of football. Their achievements will forever be recognized in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The Chairman of the Bears, George H. McCaskey, expressed his delight for McMichael’s induction, highlighting his journey from being cut early in his career to reaching the pinnacle of the sport. McCaskey praised McMichael’s grit, toughness, and hard work, stating that he truly earned his place among the game’s immortals.
